On Sunday, former chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said whatever happens to the federation now is not his concern anymore. This statement comes after the sports ministry has suspended WFI's operations until further notice. The decision comes after the newly elected body on Saturday made an announcement of U-15 and U-20 nationals, which allegedly bypassed the established due procedures. The newly elected chief, Sanjay Singh has sexual assault charges on him.

Former WFI chief, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, signaled a detachment from the current affairs of the federation, stating that he has "taken sanyas from wrestling."

"I have worked for 12 years. I have taken sanyas from wrestling that is I have dissociated myself from wrestling. Now whatever has to be done will be done by the newly elected body of the WFI. I have a lot of work as the Lok Sabha election is also coming up. Whether WFI has to speak to the government or go to the court -- I have no role to play in it," Brij Bhushan said.

The aftermath of the controversial December 21 election saw Sanjay Singh, a close associate of Brij Bhushan, assume the role of the federation's chief. The election fallout included wrestler Sakshi Malik announcing her retirement and Bajrang Punia deciding to return the Padma Shri as a form of protest against Sanjay Singh's leadership, creating a storm within the wrestling community.

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, a six-time Member of Parliament representing Kaiserganj, met with JP Nadda, signaling a shift towards political engagements.
